New Lincoln Park Boutique Featuring Only Hand-Made Items from Local Designers

Mint is a brand new boutique located in Lincoln Park that features only hand-made items such as accessories, jewelry, handbags and greeting cards.  Mint also presents candles, pottery and body care products all made by locals.

The boutique will sell only the highest quality items, perfect as a gift for that hard-to-buy-for person or a great place to treat yourself to an original one-of-a-kind accessory.

Mint is owned and operated by Tammy Terwelp, an avid crafter and jewelry maker who says, "I was having so much fun making my own jewelry and even more fun at the local craft fairs, that I wanted to be involved with Chicago's incredible art and craft community on a permanent basis.  There are so many talented designers; they deserve a location to feature their wares year round."

“I also wanted to help establish Chicago as something more than “fly-over-land” between New York and L.A.  My boutique doesn’t need to carry items from the coasts; there is a mountain of untapped and under-appreciated creative, professional talent right here in Chicago,” Terwelp continues.

Mint currently features designs from Sugarpunch, Rapt in Maille, Sweet Thunder, Tennis, Anyone?, Bad Kitten Soaps and Flamebabe Candles, as well as many others.

Mint is an independent business inside Studio 9 Gallery, located at 1450 Webster Avenue at the corner of Webster and Clybourn in Lincoln Park.  Summer hours are Thursday 4pm-9pm, Friday 4pm-8pm, Saturday 12pm-7pm and Sunday 12pm-4pm.  Mint is closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Terwelp comments on her non-traditional boutique hours by saying, “I was always frustrated by most boutiques.  I could never get there on a weekday before they closed, and weekends got so crazy, I felt like I was chasing cute skirts in shop windows all spring!  I want people to be able to stop by after work, no stress, so they can have the weekends to show off their new purchase.”
