Day One and More...
By Lauren Strejc

Day one of Fashion Focus Chicago and it’s off to a strong start with the appearance of Sarah Jessica Parker at Marshall Field’s. The Sex and the City style icon was in town to promote her new fragrance, Lovely. Fans had the opportunity to have their perfumes signed by Sarah Jessica, as Chicago was one stop in a five-city tour; the others being London, San Francisco, New York, and Toronto.

At half past noon, Sarah Jessica arrived in a light pink Alexander McQueen dress that complimented her perfume. Marshall Field’s was flooded with fans who happily awaited over four hours to see and speak with the star, who was extremely personal and friendly with each autograph she gave.

SJP had always dreamed of creating a fragrance; she was inspired by memories of watching her mother apply perfume before going out. After the encouragement of husband Matthew Broderick, Sarah called her agent to begin developing a subtle fragrance.

Bergamot, mandarin, apple martini, blossom, patchouli, amber and musk are some of the top notes within the fragrance. Lovely was developed by Lancaster group, a division of the prestigious cosmetic and fragrance company, Coty Inc.. Jennifer Lopez, Jil Sander, Jacobs, and Kenneth Cole are also part of the Coty portfolio.

As far as the name, SJP said that "Lovely was always my first choice. It was my number one name, and I was certain it was going to be taken, it was so obvious. It's really about a personality or a disposition, or a quality that someone possesses rather than a physical thing."
