Tuesday, September 27, 2005- As yet another event of Fashion Focus Chicago, Gen Art and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago presented the panel discussion: Insider Tips For Running a Creative Fashion Business at the Chicago Cultural Center .
The panel consisted of Mary Gehlhar, who is the National Fashion Director of Gen Art, Any Tara Koch, style reporter for NBC 5 and RedEye, Laura Steufen, Marshall Field’s Senior Buyer of Women’s Designer Ready-To-Wear, Price Walton Couture Lab’s Roger Price and Tommy Walton, and was led by renowned journalist, Victoria Lautman.
Audience members were able to learn about taking the creativity of the fashion world, and combining it with the reality aspects of the business world. After the discussion, Mary Gehlhar signed copies of her book, Fashion Designer Survival Guide: An Insider’s Look at Starting and Running Your Own Fashion Business . The book features advice from Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Cynthia Rowley, Diane von Furstenberg, Richard Tyler, and top executives from Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys New York.
