What do you do when you’re looking for something hot, fresh, and even possibly the next big thing? Do you hop on a plane o New York, L.A., or Paris? Nope!
Just open your blinds and look into your own backyard (or so to speak). Chicago is oozing with fresh talent; talent in almost every genre imaginable from music to fashion. Speaking of which, on Sunday August 28 th four young fashion designers joined forces at the House of Blues on State Street in the foundation room.
Why? To give this city a lesson in fashion and raise money for the International House of Blues Foundation. The main players were Xochil Herrara and Casey Cox, other featured designers included Casey Kortas and Crystal Ocegueda. The clothes ranged in themes including ‘blues brothers and soul sisters’, ‘girly pop’, ‘hip hop’, and so on; drawing inspiration from world culture and music.
The garments could be classified as haute couture and ready-to-wear street chic. After the show one of a kind garments were sold including re-worked ‘House of Blues’ t-shirts. So don’t let me catch you saying your bored or that your “so over shopping at Fields” because right around the corner there is something to see, do, and wear!
